How Terra-Confirm Works

TERRACONFIRM

How Terra-Confirm works

Turn your range work into field confidence — a rifle you know is zeroed, clean, and ready when it counts. Here’s how every part of the app works, the same guide that lives inside it.

Part one

Start here

One question drives the whole app: is this rifle ready for the shot that matters?

The idea

The loop

Everything in Terra-Confirm serves one moment: a clean, certain shot at an animal. The rhythm is simple — zero your rifle, confirm it, keep the barrel clean, and walk in ready.

Each range trip feeds the next: confirmed sessions build confidence, logged rounds drive the cleaning countdown, and a tagged cold-bore shot shows you where that first round really goes. Everything works offline, and your data never leaves the phone.

The headline

The Hunt-Ready score

The gauge on the home screen is your at-a-glance answer to “is this rifle ready?” It climbs as you confirm zeros and stays honest about how recently you have shot — a rifle you zeroed in March is not the same bet in June.

A high score the week before a hunt means you have done the work; a fading one is a nudge to get to the range before the season, not during it.

Part two

Confirm your zero

Measure where the rifle is really shooting, and turn that into exact clicks.

Three ways

Confirming a zero

Impact Check measures your zero from a photo. Shoot a Terra-Target and its QR code and corner markers read the distance and scale straight off the picture; any other target works too — you enter the distance and tap the four corners.

Tap each shot on the straightened photo and the app measures your group and point of impact in real units, millimetres and MOA, then hands the correction to Terra-Dial. No camera? Quick Zero lets you punch in the offset you read off the target yourself, and an already-measured group can be entered by hand. All three record a session against the rifle.

The shot that counts

The cold-bore shot

In the field your first shot comes from a cold, clean, fouling-free barrel — and it can land in a slightly different place than your warm range groups. That first shot is usually the only one you get on an animal.

Tag the cold-bore shot in a session and Terra-Confirm tracks where it sits relative to the rest of the group, so you know your true field zero, not just your bench average.

Shot the cold bore and your group on two separate targets? Impact Check handles that as a pair: on the photo step, turn on “Using two separate targets?” before loading a photo. You photograph the cold-bore target first and place that single shot, then the app moves you to the group target and carries the cold-bore shot across — the pair is measured together as one session.

POI to clicks

Terra-Dial

Once you know your point of impact is off by a measured amount, Terra-Dial turns it into exact turret clicks — using the click value and MOA or Mil of the scope you have assigned to that rifle.

Hand a measured offset straight across from Impact Check or Group Analyse and the dial tells you which way and how far to turn, at the distance it was measured. Keep the scope on the rifle card current and the clicks are always right for that setup.

Proven, not predicted

Drop card

Your come-up table, kept honest. Enter the dial for each distance you shoot — the card shows clicks for your scope, fills between rows, and never guesses past your last one. The line across the card is the point: rows you have proven on paper sit above it, numbers you merely typed sit below it marked unconfirmed, and verifying a distance moves the line out.

Shoot a group and the app checks it against the card: what the card predicted, what you actually needed, and one tap to write it back — and if your zero moved it tells you to re-zero instead. Field mode turns it into a giant one-handed readout with a red night palette, the point-blank band works out how far “hold centre” is honest for the vitals you are hunting, and Print stock tape gives you a strip for the stock with the unconfirmed rows hatched. No ballistics engine — just your rifle, your ammo, your paper.

Part three

Every trip counts

Every round downrange is data — recorded once, working for you afterwards.

Every trip counts

Range sessions

Everything you do at the range is a session against the rifle. Measure a group with Impact Check, enter one you measured yourself, or just log a visit — rounds downrange with no group — so the barrel count and ammo stay honest even on a plinking day.

A session carries the distance, the load, the conditions and your notes, and it is what the Hunt-Ready score, the cleaning countdown and your season stats are all built from. The conditions are their own fields — temperature, humidity, wind, direction, gusts and pressure: type them in, or with the unlock fill them from the forecast in one tap and type over anything you measured yourself.

A group also records how it was shot: from the bench, prone, off sticks, kneeling or offhand — and, on a rifle set up with one, whether the suppressor or brake was fitted, because a suppressed group and a bare-muzzle group are not the same zero. Insights then reads your bench groups apart from your field ones. They are labels, not a score.

Factory or handload

Ammo & loads

Every session is shot with a load, so set your ammo up once. Add a factory round by picking it from the built-in ammo database — an offline library of common factory cartridges, pre-filtered to the rifle calibre, that fills in the bullet weight and ballistics for you — or type in your own handload.

From there each session tracks against that load, the round count deducts from your ammo inventory, and Best Load ranks the loads you actually shoot.

First-shot accuracy

Cleaning & barrel life

Copper and carbon fouling build up shot by shot and eventually pull your first cold-bore round off call. The cleaning dials count down from intervals you set, so you clean before that happens — not on a guess.

Log your rounds after every trip (they are already counted if you saved a session) and the countdown stays accurate; barrel-life tracking watches the longer horizon.

Part four

Read the evidence

Tell a rifle problem from a shooter problem, and watch the trend across a season.

Diagnosis

Reading your groups

Group Analyse overlays multiple sessions so you can see whether a load is genuinely consistent or a flier was a one-off. Shot Distribution maps where your shots cluster relative to point of aim and flags a systematic bias — a low-left pattern, say, that points at trigger technique rather than the rifle.

Between them you can tell a rifle problem from a shooter problem — and stop chasing a zero that was never the rifle’s fault.

Let the targets decide

Best Load

Run more than one load through a rifle and Best Load ranks them by what they actually printed in your measured sessions — not by gut feel or what the bloke at the shop reckoned.

The card sits on the home screen; tap a ranked load to open the comparison and the groups behind the number. It settles the “which ammo does this barrel like” argument with evidence.

The season view

Progress over time

Watch a rifle tighten across a season — group size, consistency and point-of-impact drift, trending the right way or the wrong way. Pick a metric (extreme spread, mean radius or POI offset) and Progress Over Time charts every session with an honest read: improving, holding, or declining.

It is the difference between thinking a rifle shoots well and knowing it does, with the sessions to back it up.

Show your work

Share a group

Shot a group worth showing? Open the session and tap Share. The app draws a clean card — your shots plotted on a one-MOA grid around the point of aim, the group size in MOA, the rifle, the load, the distance and the date — and hands it to whatever you share with.

It is a drawn plot on purpose, never the photograph: no background, no location, no conditions, nothing that says where you shoot.

Part five

The rest of the kit

The admin that keeps a shooter honest — costs, gear, paperwork, and your own data.

What it really costs

Running costs

Log ammo, maintenance, gunsmithing and glass against each rifle and Terra-Confirm works out your true cost per round. Useful when you are deciding whether to keep feeding a barrel, justifying a reloading setup, or just curious what a season really costs.

It lives in Insights, alongside your all-time shot and session totals and a head-to-head comparison of every rifle you own.

Never arrive short

Pre-range checklist

A two-hour drive to the range with no chamber flag or hearing protection is a wasted day. The pre-range checklist runs before each session so the kit is in the car before you leave.

Customise it to your setup; it prompts once per range day and respects “don’t ask again”.

60-day alerts

Licences & permits

Firearm licences, permits, hunting tags, club memberships — anything with an expiry date. Open Licences & permits from the menu and the app reminds you 60 days out, so a lapsed licence never surprises you at the start of a season.

Turn on phone reminders under Menu › Alerts & reminders and the 60, 30 and 14-day warnings — along with a zero going stale and an overdue backup — reach you even with the app closed. They are alarms on your phone; nothing is sent anywhere.

Your rifle’s serial number and torque settings live on its record, and print in the PDF dossier when you need them for the paperwork.

Yours, offline

Your data

Everything lives on your device and works with no signal. Nothing is uploaded to a server.

Back up your logbook any time and restore it on a new phone — the record of every rifle you have ever owned, every zero and every load, is yours to keep.
