Safety Warning & Usage Guidelines
Your safety, and the safety of those around you, is your absolute responsibility. The Terra-target system is designed to help you verify your zero, but it must be used in accordance with fundamental firearm safety rules. Please read and adhere to the following guidelines before setting up your target.
1. Always Ensure a Safe Backstop
Never place your Terra-target on a ridgeline, the crest of a hill, or in any location where you cannot see exactly where your bullet will impact after passing through the paper. Always ensure there is a solid, safe backstop (like a large dirt berm or rising hill) directly behind the target to safely catch and contain all projectiles.
2. Know Your Target and What is Beyond It
Before taking any shot, positively identify your target and ensure the entire area behind and around your backstop is completely clear of people, livestock, property, and roads.
3. Do Not Shoot the Spikes
The Terra-target spikes are constructed from ultralight aluminium for portability, not ballistic steel. They are not designed to be shot. Shooting the spikes directly will destroy them and may cause unpredictable bullet deflection or fragmentation. Always ensure your paper target is mounted high enough that your impacts will cleanly pass through the paper and into your backstop.
4. Wear Appropriate Protection
Always wear certified eye and ear protection when discharging a firearm or when you are in the vicinity of active shooting.
5. Check the Terrain
When hammering or pressing the aluminium spikes into the ground, be mindful of hidden rocks or hard obstructions that could bend the metal. Ensure the spikes are planted firmly enough to withstand wind gusts so your target does not detach during a string of fire.
6. Obey All Local Laws
Ensure you are legally permitted to discharge a firearm in the location where you are setting up your Terra-target. Always adhere to your state or territory’s hunting and firearms regulations, as well as the specific rules of any private property or public land you are using.
